Best Care Training Institute is now accepting applications to its LPN program for the calendar year 09-10. Before filling out the application, candidates should know the following: The February session will start on 02/18/10 and end 03/30/11. The evening session will start 06/17/10 and end 07/28/11. The morning session will start 09/09/10 and end 09/23/11.    
  
I. Description of the program:
It is a program designed to provide a standard of education to persons from diverse cultural and ethnic background to become practical nurses. Graduates from our program are competent to meet the requirements for licensure of the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Upon completion of the program, graduates will acquire the necessary theoretical materials to pass the N-CLEX exam and the clinical experience to meet the requirements of the entry-level competency.

II. Accreditation status of the program: BCTI’s LPN program is accredited by the NJ Board of Nursing.

III. The New Jersey Board of Nursing is located at 124 Halsey St, 6th Floor, Newark, NJ 07101, telephone: (973) 504-6430. Information, concerns on the status of the school, complaints may be addressed to the Board.

IV.  Pre-Admission Requirements
BCTI’s Practical Nursing program admits students regardless of sex, race, creed, color, or marital status. Applicants to take the Entrance exam must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Be at least 18 years of age by completion of the program.
2. Submit a completed application form with the application fee of $50.00.
3. Submit a copy of their high school transcript, GED, high school diploma or equivalent.  Foreign documents must be translated into English, and evaluated by a state authorized agency. A list of authorized agencies is available at the school.
Admission Policy
Candidates seeking admission to the program should understand that the school does not guarantee employment. To be admitted in the program candidates who have scored at least 50% in the Entrance exam must:
1.  Register within a period of two years of passing the Entrance exam given at the school.
2. Make the payment of the initial fee of $1,500.00 (for books, uniform.. ) toward the total tuition of the program.
3. Register in person and submit the following: proof of US citizenship, U.S. residency or other legal status in US.
Once the registration process is completed, candidates will be notified of their admission status and invited to orientation sessions. Candidates will be required to submit the following documents to complete their file:
1.  Individual certificate of professional liability insurance    
($1,000.000/$3,000.000)
2.  Completed physical forms that show that the candidate is in good physical and mental health. Submit the required Medical school form signed by a physician or  an NP with: Two-step Mantoux and X-ray if necessary.
a. Rubella titer & Rubeola titer.
b.   Proof of immunity to Hepatitis B.
Note: Students under treatment for mental illness must be cleared by a physician to be admitted in the program.
3.  Evidence of completed criminal background check for any criminal record.
Background check must be completed using online services approved by the school.
4. CPR certification for health care provider.
 
V. Advance Standing: No admission will be done with advance standing in the program.                  
  
VI. Curriculum & Program Description
Best Care Training Institute’s LPN program is offered in 1,488 hours.
The sessions consist of about 50 weeks of training.                
Morning session’s Schedule: Mon thru Thu: 8:30A to 2:30P and Fri 2:00P to 10:00P
Evening session’s Schedule: Mon thru Thu: 5:00P to 10:30P, Fri 2:00P to 10:00P

The curriculum is divided in four levels:
Level I: Fundamental of Nursing, A & P, and Drug & Solutions
Level II: Med Surg I, Nutrition, and Growth & Development
Level III: Maternity, Pediatric, and Psychiatric
Level IV: Med Surg II, Geriatric, and Review
Instruction will be provided in classroom settings, Lab, and clinical settings. Each level will last approximately 12 weeks and the dates for the beginning and the end of each level will be indicated at the beginning of each session.

Promotion & Graduation: Once admitted in the program, student must maintain an average of at least 80% for each subject of a level to be promoted to the next level of the program. At any point of the program when it becomes impossible for a student to reach the 80% toward the end of a subject, student will face dismissal. In addition to maintaining a theory grade of 80%, student must maintain a (S) satisfactory clinical evaluation, and pass all simulated exams (to be taken no more than twice, the second time at the cost of the student) with at least 80% average. Student must score 80% in the NLN test, and in the range.70-.79 or higher in the Arnett CAT test after Review, and complete additional work if required in no more than 7 days. After meeting the academic requirements student must have returned all library books, paid all outstanding bills to school or affiliates to be eligible for graduation.  

Readmission: Student dismissed or withdrawn at any point from the program may be
able to restart the program with $1,500.00 credit and placement of the student will be based on the academic evaluation of the faculty.
 
VII. The total cost of the program is $12,453.00 to be paid as follow:
$1,500.00 at the time of registration after acceptance for books, uniforms, lab fee (non refundable)
$2,738.25 for tuition on Day one of the program
$2,738.25 for tuition on Day one of level 2 of the program
$2,738.25 on day one of level 3 of the program
$2,738.25 on day one of level 4 of the program

Other fees for review sessions Arnett ($200.00, $30.00 per repeat exam), N-CLEX registration: $200.00, NJBON fees: $195.00, ATI review packages ($287.00), NLN exams: $365.00 Graduation Fees ($200.00) and review books’ fees are not included.

Refund Policy: The application Fee for Pre-Entrance Exam is not refundable. The initial fee of $1,500.00 paid at the time of registration for the program is not refundable either. Student can reuse the $1,500.00 paid at the time of registration at time of readmission. Students who have to restart the program will not have to repay the $1,500.00. They would have to use books, uniforms provided at the initial time of registration.  Dismissed students or students who withdraw from the program will receive tuition refund according to the following schedule:
1. If Cancellation occurs 48 hours (forty eight hours) after the official starting date of the  first level and within the           first week of the program, any amount in excess of $1,756.00 already paid by the student, will be refunded.
2. If Cancellation occurs during the second week of the first level of the program, any amount in excess of $ 2,012.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
3. If Cancellation occurs within the third week of the first level of the program, any amount in excess of $2,652.00 already paid by the student, student will be refunded.
4. If Cancellation occurs within the fourth week of the program any amount in excess of $ 3,292.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
5. If Cancellation occurs within the fifth week of the program any amount in excess of  $4,100.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
6. If Cancellation occurs 48 hours (forty eight hours) after the official starting date of the second level and within the first week of the second level of the program, any amount in excess of $4,356.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
7. If Cancellation occurs during the second week of the second level of the program, any amount in excess of $ 4,612.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
8. If Cancellation occurs within the third week of the second level of the program, any amount in excess of $5,252.00 already paid by the student, student will be refunded.
9. If Cancellation occurs within the fourth week of the second level of the program any amount in excess of $ 5,892.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
10. If Cancellation occurs within the fifth week of the second level of the program any amount in excess of $6,760.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
11. If Cancellation occurs 48 hours (forty eight hours) after the official starting date of the third level and within the first week of the third level of the program, any amount in excess of $6,916.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
12. If Cancellation occurs during the second week of the third level of the program, any amount in excess of $ 7,172.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
13. If Cancellation occurs within the third week of the third level of the program, any amount in excess of $7,812.00 already paid by the student, student will be refunded.
14. If Cancellation occurs within the fourth week of the third level of the program any amount in excess of $ 8,452.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
15. If Cancellation occurs within the fifth week of the third level of the program any amount in excess of $9,260.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
16. If Cancellation occurs 48 hours (forty eight hours) after the official starting date of the fourth level and within the first week of the fourth level of the program, any amount in excess of $9,516.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
17. If Cancellation occurs during the second week of the fourth level of the program, any amount in excess of $ 9,772.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
18. If Cancellation occurs within the third week of the fourth level of the program, any amount in excess of $10,412.00 already paid by the student, student will be refunded.
19. If Cancellation occurs within the fourth week of the fourth level of the program any amount in excess of $ 11,052.00 already paid by the student will be refunded.
20. If Cancellation occurs within the fifth week of the fourth level of the program no refund will be due to the student.
21. Any refund needed to be made, will be done sixty (60) days after termination, cancellation or withdrawal.

VIII. Appeals process:
Step I: Present your case to the instructor or whomever the grievance is with. If no satisfaction within three days, proceed to step II
Step II: Contact the program director IN WRITING, describing the complaint, date and time of the incident, and the expected resolution. Within three days of submission, the program director will respond. If no satisfaction, proceed to step III
Step III: Contact the School Administrator IN WRITING. Complaints against the school administrator can be addressed to the board of trustees.
